The Housing Partnership is a 501c (3) nonprofit organization that serves as New York City's primary intermediary for the development of affordable housing. We assist in the development, promotion, and revitalization of rental housing and affordable homeownership through an array of specialized programs and services. For nearly 40 years, the Housing Partnership has been the facilitator of dynamic partnerships between the City, State, and private sectors to build affordable homes that stimulate economic growth and revitalize neighborhoods throughout New York City's five boroughs.

The Housing Partnership seeks an experienced financial professional to manage its daily financial well-being and long-term sustainability. The Housing Partnership, and its affiliates, Community Partnership Development Corporation (CPDC), and the NYC Partnership Housing Development Fund Corporation (NYCP HDFC), act as a conduit for numerous affordable housing initiatives. The Controller for the Housing Partnership is responsible for the accounting and financial compliance of the organization, working directly with the accounting, administrative, and project management staff to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization. The Controller reports to the CFO.


l. Coordinate the monthly General Ledger Closing, preparation of financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet), financial reports, special analysis and information reports on an as needed basis (such as A/R, Budget vs. Actual variances, prepaid expenses, etc...)

2. Manage the year-end financial audit process; conduct reviews and prepare for audits

3. Manage G/L (including account maintenance and date entry); manage and analyze cash, oversee bank statement reconciliation

4. Oversee the approval of processing of revenue, expenditure and position control documents, department budgets, Payables and Receivables

5. Evaluate, create (as needed), coordinate, the financial programs and systems to include budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and conversion of assets, management of expenses

6. Ensure compliance with local, state, federal reporting requirements and approve and coordinate improvements (as needed)

7. Assist with fiduciary responsibilities to ensure the "on going concern" of the Company and related entities

8. Train, supervise, develop department staff

9. Represent the Partnership to government agencies, bankers, auditors, clients, and the general public

10. Work requires willingness to work overtime/a flexible schedule as needed to accomplish various deadlines and requirements

11. Provide strategic financial leadership and decision-making and serve as the principal financial advisor to the CFO, who reports to the CEO, the Board of Directors and senior management team;

12. Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist CFO, Board of Directors, and senior management team in performing their responsibilities;

13. Assist in the development and management of the organization's annual budget;

14. Help oversee the grants and contracts management systems, including cost allocation plans; integrating organization's annual budget and restricted funding; and monitoring the budget modification, contract reporting, revenue vouchering and collection processes;

15. Assist in oversight of Fixed Assets and help establish sound fiscal policies, procedures, and controls;

16. Review company real estate transactions and their relationship to accounting and tax policy;

17. Work with CFO who serves as the administrator and a trustee for the organization's 401(k);

18. Assist in compliance with business, property, insurance and non-profit filings;

19. Assist in financial asset management for Housing Development

5. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity

6. Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains 2018 Accounting Software; Management Reporter 2012, Jet Reports, Microsoft Office (Excel/Word)

Education and Experience Requirement(s)

B.S. Degree in Accounting, MBA in Finance or Accounting, CPA a plus. Five (5) years' experience within a similar role as Controller with experience specifically in nonprofit accounting, or grant and financial management. Project management skills. Knowledge of capital budgeting, taxation and auditing. Strong Accounting Skills and proficiency with Great Plains is required.
